UPDATE: Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat Beta has been released.
Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat has been scheduled to be released 10 October 2010 (10/10/10) and most of the changes have been already implemented as it is heading for the 3rd Alpha release in August 5th. GNOME Shell and GNOME 3 will not make it to Ubuntu 10.10 as it was initially expected. Also, the default theme seems to be same as Lucid. However, there are going to be some changes in this version. Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat Alpha has been available for download a few days back and I have decided to upgrade from Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx 64bit to 10.10. I’m sure there are no notable changes in the first alpha, but it is great to have it installed as changes are seen easy and I can help in development by reporting bugs and trying to fix some issues on my own.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx Alpha. I have a dsl connection (WiZoom, Wireless via ubnt but wired to my PC) from Worldlink Pvt. Ltd., Nepal. I need to connect via pppoe. I occasionally keep my PC to download overnight while I sleep or even when I am away. It works well with torrents (with deluge as my torrent client, I haven’t used transmission torrent client much) but sometimes it disconnects from the internet.
