[SOLVED] ‘Murrine configuration option “scrollbar_color”, “gradients” is no longer supported and will be ignored.’

[ad#ad-1]I am using balazan theme in Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx Alpha 4 from breathe ppa for Karmic Koala since Lucid PPA was not available when I started using Lucid. I saw this message when I launched gedit from terminal (gnome-terminal):

1
2
/usr/share/themes/balanzan/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:89: Murrine configuration option "scrollbar_color" is no longer supported and will be ignored.
/usr/share/themes/balanzan/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:93: Murrine configuration option "gradients" is no longer supported and will be ignored.

Seems like the theme I’m using has some depreciated configuration options after Murrine update. I opened the /usr/share/themes/balanzan/gtk-2.0/gtkrc file (as root) using the following command from Alt+F2

gksu gedit /usr/share/themes/balanzan/gtk-2.0/gtkrc

and then removed the lines in question (89 and 93 in my case, those that contain depreciated options) and saved it. The messages are gone.
Hope this helps.

    Not really, you removed the intention of the designer therefore deprecating the design. A better solution would be to figure out how to translate the offending line so that the new murrine engine can use it. Don’t ask me how, but the error messages were there for a reason.

    @ethnopunk
    Hi,
    Since the depreciated options would not work anyway, I just wanted to stop the warnings that appear when I launch something from terminal (which I generally do when I have to see the debug output), and I have been successful with that, without changing the appearance.
    Not being a theme developer, the best I could do while waiting for the new release of the theme was to remove the depreciated options altogether.

    /usr/share/themes/Human/gtk-2.0/gtkrc
    /usr/share/themes/Human/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:85: Murrine configuration option “gradients” is no longer supported and will be ignored.

    I guess it was just one line. Commented out line 85 because the message was starting to annoy me. 🙂

    Thank you for this post
    I have had the same problem with the theme Human me and commenting the line 89 solved the problem.
